Estepona & Sotogrande – A Secluded Oasis on the Costa Del Sol

Most people who have heard of the Costa del Sol will think of Marbella, known for its glitz and glamour. But many haven’t even considered the tranquil enclave at the far western end of the coast which loves to hide away from the spotlight.

Estepona & Sotogrande
Situated on the Atlantic Ocean at the Strait of Gibraltar, this magnificent area has an Atlantic backdrop and a series of Sierras behind it. This means it can be a secluded oasis or a thriving centre for sport, leisure and culture.

Golfers are well catered for in this part of Andalusia. The famous Valderrama golf course is just a short drive away, and the area boasts a multitude of other courses. Tennis academies, polo clubs and yacht marinas also feature here along with protected marshland which is a stopover for migratory birds on their way to Africa.

The town itself is a small and charming Andalusian ‘pueblo blanco’, and it has preserved much more of the traditional Spanish feel than some other resorts on the Costa del Sol that are a little more high-profile and cater to large numbers of tourists. It is a town of beautiful and vast beaches, high level culture, excellent restaurants, cafes and tapas bars almost everywhere.

There is a good bus service running between Estepona and Sotogrande. Check out our Estepona & Sotogrande Transport Guide for details and times. Estepona & Sotogrande
